The St. Louis Junior Chamber of Commerce will drop the green flag on the "Thrill on the Hill" 2008 Soap Box Derby on Sunday, June 8.
Boys and girls ages 8 to 17 are eligible to race in one of two divisions - stock and super stock. Forty racers will participate along Macklind Avenue in The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis City. The winner of each division will be eligible to race at the National Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio, on July 26, 2008.
Since 1977, the St. Louis Jaycees have been a proud sponsor of the All-American Soap Box Derby in St. Louis. This tradition, dating back to 1933 in Dayton, Ohio, helps build strong family connections and community spirit in a way few things can. With two divisions – stock and super stock – there’s an exciting level of racing available for all boys and girls ages 8 to 17. Families come together through this event to build fast cars and strong bonds.
